LANDSIDE OPERATIONS MANAGER
CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION (CDA)
CA-TERMINAL AND LANDSLIDE OPERATIONS
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $69,684; Grade: BX-15

The candidate(s) selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment(STA).
Under general supervision, coordinates and oversees traffic monitoring activities at the City's airports, and performs related duties as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• The Landside Operations Manager inspects airport terminal roadways to identify safety hazards and general
physical conditions
• Monitors the work of contracted ground transportation personnel responsible for the orderly movement of
public vehicles
• Assigns personnel to locations throughout the terminal to minimize traffic congestion during peak travel
times and atypical incidents
• Interprets and applies municipal ordinances and local traffic rules relative to Landside Operations
• Respond to incoming customer and taxi starter and driver complaints
• Provide technical assistance in resolving disputes between the general public and operators of motor
vehicles and respond to car crashes and other emergencies such as ATS train outages
• Appropriately deal with illegal solicitors and work with CPD and issue parking enforcement tickets
Additional duties may be required for this position.
Location: 10510 West Zemke Road
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: First shift (midnight)
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years of traffic control work experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the positions, OR • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree or higher, PLUS one (1) year of traffic control work experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related the responsibilities of the positions
Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications
A valid driver license from the State of Illinois is required

This position requires an applicant to successfully complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
