The Town of Middlefield Highway Department Has Immediate Openings for 3 MEO/Road Maintenance Positions CDL Class B preferred but will pay for training. Salary : Starts at $23.50/hr - based on Union scale Family Plan Health Insurance Provided. The MEO Road Maintainer is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, and upkeep of public roads and related infrastructure. This position operates motorized heavy equipment such as graders, plow trucks, loaders, rollers, and dump trucks to perform tasks including grading, paving support, snow and ice control, drainage maintenance, and roadside repairs. The Road Maintainer conducts routine equipment inspections, performs basic maintenance, and reports mechanical issues as needed. Duties also include installing and maintaining traffic control devices, clearing debris, repairing shoulders, and responding to emergencies such as storms or roadway hazards. The position requires adherence to safety regulations, work zone traffic control standards, and departmental policies. Candidates must possess a valid commercial drivers license (CDL), the ability to work in varied weather conditions, and strong teamwork and communication skills. Prior experience operating heavy equipment and knowledge of road maintenance practices are preferred.
