The Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery at Henry Ford Health is expanding to meet the needs of an abundant and growing clinical practice centered at a regional, academic level I trauma center in downtown Detroit, Michigan. We are seeking candidates board-certified or eligible in general surgery and critical care to join our diverse and vibrant team of acute care surgeons and intensivists. At the downtown campus, we are a quaternary center for the system -- which includes 13 hospitals and 550 ambulatory sites through southeast and south-central Michigan. Our practice includes elective general surgery, emergency general surgery, trauma, surgical critical care, and care provided for a 38-bed surgical ICU. Also, we provide 24-hour coverage for the SICU as well as in-house back up
Our team includes residents (7 finishing chiefs per year – ACGME accredited general surgical residency program), fellows (SICU) and a strong group of advanced practice providers. Medical students, primarily from Detroit’s own Wayne State University’s School of Medicine are part of the team; faculty appointments are through Wayne State University’s School of Medicine and Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine.
Teaching and mentorship opportunities: We offer opportunities to train and mentor medical students, residents and fellows.
Academic appointment opportunities are available for those who qualify through Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine as well as Wayne State University’s School of Medicine.
Detroit is a resurgent city with a rich history; the downtown areas are enjoying a revitalization that includes three 21st-century professional sports stadiums, the storied Fox theater, and the Detroit Opera House. The metropolitan area is currently enjoying a growing economy and population.

Requirements
Completion of ACGME accredited residency program.
BC/BE in general surgery and surgical critical care.
Board eligible candidates must be certified in the first three years of employment.
Research experience and robotics training desired.
