The Head Building Custodian at Lakeside High School is a trusted role with real ownership of the building. You will work with a high level of independence while staying closely connected to school leadership. The work includes coordinating custodial responsibilities, responding to day-to-day needs, and addressing issues as they arise. Some days are routine. Others require flexibility and steady judgment. This role is well suited to someone who notices details, follows through without being asked, and is comfortable being relied upon.

Salary and Benefits:
The Hourly Rate range for the position is: Min. $23.07 - Max. $30.09. Salary placement will be at Step 1 of the Nine Mile Classified Public Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Each employee shall accumulate up to twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. (Example: An employee working 10 months will receive 10 days of sick leave.) A maximum of three (3) Annual Leave days are provided for all employees based on the employee’s scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours, or to be accumulated for the purpose of cash out.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services
Schedule:
This position will be assigned Monday – Friday 8 hours per day 5:00 am to 1:30 pm with a ½ hour lunch; 260 days/year. This position is subject to change based on the needs of the district.

Nature and Scope of Job:
To perform duties of maintenance, repair, operation, care, cleaning and security of the assigned facility and site. To provide a clean, comfortable, safe and attractive environment for the students, staff, and patrons of the Nine Mile Falls School District. Work as a close member of a team dedicated to educating students.

Primary Job Functions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Cleaning and Sanitizing - Daily cleaning of the school building
Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors as needed; move furniture and equipment; dust areas as needed; wash furniture, walls, and fixtures; wash windows; apply floor products; operate cleaning equipment; garbage collection and washing trash cans.
Maintenance - Includes but not limited to: Basic building maintenance, snow removal for Lakeside High School, mowing and grounds care for Lakeside High School
Public Relations-Being visible in the building such as before school and during lunch, working as a team with staff and community.
Willingness to follow directions of principal, assistant principal, supervisor, without supervision while performing your duties up to standard and participate in planning and organizing work schedules.
Repair – Basic school repairs (ie: bathroom repairs), changing light bulbs, light to skilled maintenance jobs.
Staying organized and communicative as you navigate an ever-changing routine based on master schedules.
Opening and or closing/securing the building (locking classrooms/hallways)
Coordinating Work Schedules- Coordinating schedules and communicating with evening custodian and principal.
Setting up for whole school events. (Gym use)
General Maintenance and Repair.
Addressing Building Safety Concerns.
Support the plan, and help organize the schedule, for non-school time cleaning.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, Physical Requirements, etc.):
Valid Washington Driver’s License.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Computer skills such as using email and dedicated programs that support Maintenance and Custodial.
One year of experience working as a custodian/housekeeper.
Physical ability to lift 75 pounds, walk, stoop, bend, climb ladders, and perform various types of labor in eight-hour shifts.
Ability to willingly follow directions of supervisor/principal up to standard without supervision.
Ability to make sound judgements.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
Demonstrated ability to use time wisely.
Demonstrated skill and experience in collaborating with other employees, developing work schedules, and monitoring multiple work tasks.
Satisfactory overall work record, including attendance and demonstrated dependability.
Verifiable experience working in plumbing, sink repair, toilet repair and other plumbing related repair work.
Verifiable experience in electrical repair, ballast repair and lighting.
Experience working with irrigation, fire panels and HVAC would be considered favorable.
Desired Qualifications
Verifiable experience working as a commercial custodian or in a maintenance related field of work.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment where everyone sees the education of children as the mission.
Ability to look at the current environment and willing to suggest areas for improvement.

Plumbing
Electrical
Irrigation
HVAC
Equipment Used
Computer, vacuum cleaner, lawn mower, floor scrubber, mop, cleaning supplies, maintenance tools and supplies, wet vacuum, wax applicator, electric hoist, hand truck, snow removal equipment, extractor, hand tools, scrubber/buffer, automatic scrubber, portable power tools, dolly, ladder, scaffolding, scissor lift, washer, dryer; occasional drywall repair and plaster application.
Environmental Demands
Air-conditioned building.
Occasional exposure to weather extremes.
LED lighting.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and supplies.
