Position Summary: The purpose of the Director of Nursing is to provide expert professional knowledge and skills necessary to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Resident Care Department in accordance with all current regulatory standards to ensure the highest degree of quality care.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility. Complete the admission assessment of the resident, including resident care planning. Evaluate effects of care delivered and assign special treatments when indicated. Assure resident safety through nursing staff. Provide resident and family teaching and counseling as necessary. Participate in establishing and managing annual budget for Nursing. Integrate and coordinate care with other disciplines, including physicians. Determine and schedule the staffing needs to meet the total care needs of the residents. Responsible for the recruitment and selection of resident care personnel. Develop, implement and maintain an effective staff orientation program. Make daily rounds to ensure the performance of staff and the well-being of the resident. Assist in the evaluation of resident care personnel. Review complaints made by personnel, residents or visitors. Ensure that personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures and provide discipline as necessary. Ensure that staff disciplinary action is administered consistently pursuant to company policy. Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information. Ensure that all resident care personnel are knowledgeable of the resident’s rights. Monitor resident care to assure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect. Review and revise care plans and assessments as necessary. Attend Rehab. Meetings and assist in determining Medicare A&B of residents. Conduct staff meetings and in-service education. Provide tours of the facility and an explanation of the admission procedure to prospective residents and family members when Social Services staff is unavailable. React calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication in English. Review invoices and Med-B forms for billing. Coordinate Quality of Care and Infection Control sub-committees of Quality Assurance Committee. Update department’s policies and procedures manual at least annually. Practices safe working habits. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office environment that has controlled heat and cold. The noise level is moderate to quiet.
Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting. Lifting and carrying items weighting up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Education / Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses. Demonstrated experience at an administrative level within a skilled nursing / long term care facility and ability to provide proof of such experience. Knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. Valid registration as a Registered Nurse

Requirements
Job Requirements
Active, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, in good standing
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
High school diploma or equivalent required
Demonstrated administrative-level experience within a skilled nursing or long-term care facility, with ability to provide proof of such experience
1+ year of long-term/acute care experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of the nursing process, including assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to relocate to Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 before start date, if not already local
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; frequent bending, stooping, and stretching
Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
Demonstrated composure and sound judgment in emergency situations
