Help Shape the Middle School Baseball Experience at Lakeside
The 1st Assistant Boys Baseball Coach works alongside the head coach to guide 7th and 8th grade students through a season of learning the game and learning about themselves. Most afternoons are spent on the field teaching fundamentals, helping players understand their role, and keeping practices steady and purposeful. You pay attention to safety, effort, and how teammates treat one another. When a player struggles, you step in with direction. When things go well, you reinforce what led to it. This role is part of the daily life of the school. You are trusted to represent Lakeside with integrity, support students as they grow, and help create a team environment where everyone understands they belong and are responsible for the space they share.
Salary: The salary range for the position is: Min.$1,530 Max.$2,720. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective Bargaining Agreement and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Nine Mile Falls School District www.9mile.org. Classified, Substitute staff that would be in an overtime situation, if they received this position, may not be eligible for this opening.

Work Location: Lakeside Middle School
Nature and Scope of Position: (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)
Assists the 8th Head Coach of the program as needed (practices, etc.). Will teach the basic fundamentals of the game of Baseball to 8th graders inspiring young athletes in the basic techniques of the sport, as well as guiding them in the way of being a good person.

Primary Job Functions
Assists 7th/8th Grade Head Coaches with any duties as assigned.
Teach basics of baseball to 7th/8th grade students.
Maintains team discipline, WIAA standards, coaches individual participants in skills necessary to achieve excellence in baseball, models and encourages good sportsmanship, explains eligibility requirements and participation rules to athletes, maintains equipment inventory/upkeep, schedules practices, oversees safety, record keeping as necessary, and other duties as determined by the Athletic Director.
Responsible for leading a safe and effective baseball program for the middle school. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the program to represent the school and community with integrity, sportsmanship, and positive character traits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):
First Aid/CPR Card
WSP/FBI Fingerprint Clearance
Be a High School Graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program.
High school students may serve as middle school volunteer assistant coaches during the designated middle school season when under the direct supervision of the middle school coach. These high school students must meet WIAA coaches standards minimum requirements and hold a valid First Aid Certification and a valid CPR card.
Ability to obtain required WIAA clock hours
Successful experience in coaching baseball at the secondary, collegiate, or club level.
Knowledge of effective and safe sport techniques.
Great sportsmanship, positive relationships, and effective communication with students, families, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct young athletes.
Demonstrated ability to develop lifelong character traits in students.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and build a highly successful sports program.
