This position is in our specialized portfolio enterprise where we serve diverse businesses who support unique customers or markets, including animal nutrition and health, bioindustrial, road safety salt and Cargill joint ventures.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Food Safety and Quality Technician, will be accountable for food safety and quality inspection process within a specified range. In this role, you will conduct tests and inspections following internal and external procedures in quality and food safety.
Key Accountabilities
Conduct routine inspections following the compliance program.
Identify and analyse deviations to avoid potential risk to the businesses, report the serious one to higher level staff for guidance.
Interpret and document results of tests into active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
Run calibration checks, preventive maintenance tasks and simple repair to analytical instrumentation and maintain customer specifications books.
Follow company Quality & Food Safety and Environment and Health policies and procedures, identify instances of risky behaviours in the workplace and take appropriate action and escalate serious issues as appropriate.
Attend audits, prepare required documents and ensure all documentation is completed, current and verified to support production management decisions.
Handle basic clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Organize and maintain the sampling room in proper condition

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
Good oral and written communication skills.
Other minimum qualifications may apply
Preferred Qualifications
Laboratory Technician or similar.
Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Strong computer program professional knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
Experienced in manufacturing as Line Inspectors or equivalent experience.
In-depth knowledge of sanitation and manufacturing practices in the assessment of plant hygiene program.
