Position Overview
Jones Transportation is seeking a reliable, safety-minded, and experienced Class A CDL Truck Driver to join our fleet. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently to their destinations. Key Responsibilities
Safe Operation: Transport, deliver, and unload (if required) freight over specified routes in accordance with local, state, and federal traffic laws.
Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Perform daily thorough inspections of the tractor and trailer (brakes, tires, lights, fluids, etc.) before and after trips to ensure optimal operating safety.
Logistics & Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records, manifest logs, and delivery receipts.
Cargo Security: Secure cargo for transit using straps, chains, or locks, and verify that the manifest matches the loaded freight.
Communication: Maintain open communication with dispatchers regarding route status, ETA changes, and any unexpected traffic or maintenance delays.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
License: Must possess a valid, active Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (preferred).
Driving Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations or recent at-fault accidents.
Health: Must hold a valid DOT Medical Card and be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and background check.
Skills & Physical Requirements
Proficient in using GPS, ELD systems, and standard smartphone applications for routing.
Strong understanding of FMCSA and DOT regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks if necessary (e.g., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, securing loads).
Excellent time-management skills and a professional attitude when interacting with customers at delivery docks.
