- Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon
Description
The Trauma Surgeon is accountable to the Medical Director, Trauma Program for providing trauma and acute surgery coverage consistent with the standards of care of Garnet Health Medical Center. The Trauma Surgeon will use a variety of skills to educate, consult and manage the surgical patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team and other physicians and providers. The Trauma Surgeon will work collaboratively with the health care team including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the surgical patient care, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with departments affecting the care of the surgical patient. The Trauma Surgeon will act as a clinical educator working with staff on surgical competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills. The Trauma Surgeon will work with the care team to implement necessary medical aspects of patient care. The Surgeon will use these skills to affect a quality patient experience.

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $444,422 through $493,973 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
Requirements
Minimum Education:
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.
Minimum Experience:
5 years of surgical experience preferred
Required Certification/Registration:
NY State Medical License
Board Certification: Surgery
Board Certification/Board Eligibility Trauma/Surgical Critical Care
ACLS and ATLS certification required. PALS
Opioid Prescriber Cert
NYS Infection Control
DEA Certification, valid and unrestricted
